Dementia Awareness week: Alzheimer’s Society Event held in Bridgend

Sue Phelps, Director of Wales for the Alzheimer’s Society, PSCO Sam Dance and PC Paul Evans

As part of Dementia Awareness Week the Alzheimer’s Society took the opportunity to reveal their new offices located on North Road, Bridgend Industrial Estate. During Dementia Awareness Week the Alzheimer’s Society are lifting the lid on the many myths associated with Dementia whilst encouraging people to talk about living with the condition.

The new offices will provide accessible services for people with all forms of dementia and offer support to their families and carers. Dementia support workers are available to provide information and support on a one to one basis to people with dementia or careers. This can be provided via phone, email, home or other convenient venue. Dementia support workers can also be contacted at the new office in Bridgend.
The Deputy Mayor of Bridgend officially opened the building, supported by Sue Phelps, Director of Wales for the Alzheimer’s Society. A team from Bridgend Community Safety Partnership also attended the event.
A workshop was later held covering the basics of dementia and forging links with local agencies, including the team from Bridgend Community Safety Partnership, in becoming Dementia Friends.
Further information about the Alzheimer's Society can be found here.
