What is Late Night Economy?

The evening and late night economy includes a wide range of leisure and cultural attractions and entertainment from cinema to sports, restaurants, pubs and discos.

Who is affected?

Businesses, local residents, the emergency services, local authority employees and customers.

What does it cost?

There is a significant cost to the tax payer in relation ot the impact of the night time economy which covers a range of issues including cleansing, Policing, provision of health care and licensing enforcement.

  • Restrictions on licensable activity
  • Town centre regeneration
  • Pedestrianisation and road closures
  • Test Purchasing of alcohol, cigarettes, fireworks etc

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
